Moong and Urad at MSP Approved

The Madhya Pradesh government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring fair prices for farmers’ produce. In a proactive step, the state has submitted a proposal to the central government for the procurement of summer moong and urad at Minimum Support Prices (MSP). As per the proposal, farmer registration for procurement will begin on June 19, 2025.
Double Engine Government Working on PM’s Vision:
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government is taking all necessary steps to empower farmers. By promoting agro-based industries, the state aims to enhance the economic strength of the farming community. Ensuring that farmers receive the rightful value for their produce remains a top priority for the administration.
Minimum Support Prices for Moong and Urad:
- Summer Moong MSP: ₹8,682 per quintal
- Urad MSP: ₹7,400 per quintal
These prices have been determined by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), Government of India. The submitted proposal includes detailed action plans for farmer registration, quality standards, transportation, payments, and awareness outreach.
Positive Yield Forecast for Moong and Urad:
- Moong: Expected to be harvested across 36 districts, with a projected area of 14.35 lakh hectares and estimated production of 20.23 lakh metric tonnes
- Urad: To be harvested in 13 districts, covering 0.95 lakh hectares, with an estimated yield of 1.24 lakh metric tonnes
Required Documents for Farmer Registration:
- Aadhaar Card
- Bank account number (from a nationalized or district cooperative bank)
- IFSC code
- Self-attested copy of land ownership/loan passbook
- Contract copy for sharecroppers or tenant farmers
Procurement, Payment & Monitoring Framework:
- Farmers will receive a computerized receipt from procurement agencies, containing their name, bank details, and payable amount.
- Procurement will follow uniform specifications set by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
- Cooperative societies, marketing federations, and warehouse corporations will be responsible for procurement.
- District-level teams will be trained for quality assessment of produce.
- Awareness campaigns will be launched to prevent distress sales and protect farmers from exploitation by middlemen.
Transportation of Procured Produce:
- Designated transporters will be appointed to deliver the procured moong and urad to warehouses.
- If primary transport arrangements fail, district-level committees will deploy alternatives.
- Transport agencies failing to deliver on time will face penalties under procurement rules.
Facilities at Procurement Centers for Farmers:
- Shaded waiting areas, clean drinking water, toilets, and first-aid kits
- Equipment for quality testing of produce
- Display banners with FAQ standards and payment details
- Additional staff and functional IT infrastructure (laptops, printers, batteries) will be arranged at high-volume centers.
