Using deep learning techniques, millions of field images captured through the ‘SARA’ app are analysed to accurately verify the type of crops sown at the ground level. This has replaced traditional estimation methods with precise, data-driven decision-making, ensuring reliable and real-time information.

Satellite and AI Enable Advanced Crop Identification:

Smart crop mapping is being carried out using satellite imagery combined with advanced models such as Random Forest algorithms. This allows crop identification at the land parcel (Khasra) level. Additionally, yield forecasts for notified crops are being generated at the ‘Patwari Halka’ level, helping improve agricultural planning, procurement systems, and crop insurance processes.

Accuracy Improves Significantly:

The adoption of these technologies has led to a notable improvement in accuracy. While crop assessment accuracy stood at around 66% in 2022, it has increased to nearly 85% by 2025. During the recent Rabi and Kharif seasons, over 53.7 million field images were analysed, enabling real-time crop identification. More than 30 million land parcels have been digitally mapped, with ongoing verification of crop data and digital crop surveys. Since 2023, crop production assessments are also being carried out across nearly 22,000 ‘Patwari Halka’ regions.
