As the new year begins, farmers and traders are closely watching wheat markets across the country. January 1, 2026, brings a key question: Will wheat prices improve in the coming weeks, or will market pressure continue?
Between November and December 2025, many major mandis witnessed a sharp rise in arrivals, which led to mild price softness. However, market conditions are now showing early signs of change. With falling arrivals, colder weather, farmers holding back stocks, and speculation around government procurement, experts believe wheat prices may regain some strength in January.
Importantly, mandis that faced heavy pressure in December due to excess arrivals are now reporting slower inflow, creating room for a gradual recovery. Market analysts suggest that from the second half of January, wheat prices—especially for good-quality grain—could see improvement. That said, gains may remain limited as market stocks are still available.
This report presents a detailed comparison of November vs December 2025 wheat prices and arrivals, along with likely trends ahead, to help farmers make informed selling decisions.

The November–December 2025 data clearly shows that wheat prices softened mainly due to higher arrivals. In Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow saw a slight price dip, while arrivals declined sharply—hinting at possible support ahead. Meerut prices weakened marginally with stable inflow.
The biggest shift was recorded in Kanpur Grain Market, where prices dropped sharply as arrivals surged over seven times in December. Raebareli showed price improvement, but arrivals also rose significantly, limiting upside potential.
Delhi mandis experienced moderate price declines due to rising arrivals. In Madhya Pradesh, both Bhopal and Ujjain saw price softness alongside a strong rise in arrivals, especially in Bhopal. Mumbai APMC recorded one of the sharpest price corrections, driven by higher inflow.
Overall, markets with heavy arrivals faced price pressure, while mandis with controlled supply remained relatively stable.
A sudden price spike in early January appears unlikely. However, farmers with storage capacity may benefit by waiting until late January or February, when market arrivals could slow further.
Future price movement will largely depend on:
Arrival trends
Government procurement activity
Demand from millers and traders
We will continue to track these factors closely and provide timely updates to help farmers take the right decision at the right time.
