A Step Toward Building an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’:
Union Minister Shri Chouhan stated that these approvals aim to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce and are protected from market volatility. He added that this initiative is a major step toward stabilizing farmers’ incomes and realizing the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).
He emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government’s top priority is to secure the income and dignity of farmers. The record procurement of pulses and oilseeds will not only enhance production but also provide assured income and long-term financial stability for farmers.
100% Procurement Through NAFED and NCCF:
Shri Chouhan further informed that the government has made arrangements for 100% procurement of tur (pigeon pea), urad (black gram), and masoor (lentil) through NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India) and NCCF (National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India).
This, he said, will pave the way for self-reliance in pulse production across the country. The minister also directed officials to ensure strict monitoring and transparency so that the direct benefits reach farmers without any delay or middlemen involvement.
