August 17, 2025: Fresh Potato Market Prices – Where Farmers Are Earning Big and Where Rates Have Crashed

Today, India’s major potato markets witnessed heavy fluctuations. In some places, prices skyrocketed, while in others, farmers struggled as rates fell below even production costs. Maharashtra and Rajasthan, potato prices climbed as high as ₹2,500 per quintal, while in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Barwala (Hisar), rates slumped to just ₹700–₹800 per quintal.

The biggest highlight of the day came from Pune (Manjri) market, where potatoes sold for ₹2,500 per quintal, and Bassi (Rajasthan), where rates touched ₹2,400. On the other hand, Hansi (Haryana) surprised farmers with prices reaching ₹3,500 per quintal, bringing smiles to growers. Meanwhile, Nashik and Nagpur saw heavy arrivals, keeping prices under pressure.

For farmers, today’s potato market clearly shows one trend – where arrivals are low, prices are soaring; where arrivals are high, rates are falling.

Advice for Farmers:

  1. Farmers with high-quality potatoes should target premium markets like Pune (Manjri), Bassi (Rajasthan), and Hansi (Haryana) for better returns.
  2. In high-supply regions like Nashik and Nagpur, prices may remain under pressure—storage can help secure better rates later.
  3. Keep an eye on low-arrival, high-price markets such as Bassi and Rawatsar, which may continue to show strong demand in the coming days.
