Price & Arrival Trend Analysis:

Onion prices remained very weak across Madhya Pradesh mandis today. In Badnagar, heavy arrivals of 43.5 tonnes pushed prices down sharply to ₹200–₹400 per quintal, the lowest levels of the day. Prices in Indore, Rajgarh, and Porsa also stayed under pressure, mostly within the ₹400–₹600 range. In Khandwa, arrivals of 45 tonnes capped prices below ₹800, clearly indicating oversupply.

In contrast, Rajasthan mandis showed strong bullish momentum. At Bhilwara, with arrivals of just 0.8 tonnes, onion prices surged to ₹2,500 per quintal. Bhadra and Goluwala also recorded strong rates of ₹2,000–₹2,100 for 1st Sort onions. However, mandis with higher arrivals like Ajmer and Udaipur (40–68 tonnes) saw prices remain limited within ₹900–₹1,500.

Key Advice for Farmers:

  1. Farmers in Madhya Pradesh should avoid immediate selling if possible, as prices are severely depressed due to heavy arrivals.
  2. Those with good-quality or 1st Sort onions can benefit by selling in Rajasthan mandis such as Bhilwara, Bhadra, and Goluwala.
  3. Before dispatching produce to high-arrival mandis, compare nearby market prices to avoid distress sales.
  4. With the possibility of reduced arrivals in the coming days, price recovery is likely, making storage a viable option for farmers who have facilities.
