On 22 December 2025, garlic prices in major markets across the country surprised everyone. While good-quality garlic sold as high as ₹17,500 per quintal in some mandis, prices in other markets remained limited to ₹1,000–₹3,000 per quintal due to heavy arrivals and weak quality produce.
Many mandis of Haryana and Maharashtra, garlic arrivals were limited today, which had a direct impact on prices. Rates for premium-grade garlic remained strong. Markets such as Nagpur, Akola, Samalkha, and Hansi showed clear signs of better returns for farmers. On the other hand, mandis with higher arrivals or average quality saw visible pressure on prices.

The sharpest rise in garlic prices was recorded in Nagpur mandi, where the maximum rate touched ₹17,500 per quintal. In Akola, premium garlic also sold up to ₹17,000, although the minimum price dropped to ₹700, clearly reflecting quality variation.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, limited arrivals (1.7 tons) helped prices stay strong up to ₹15,000.
Haryana, very low arrivals supported firm prices. Garlic sold up to ₹12,000 in Samalkha and Hansi, while Thanesar recorded prices up to ₹10,000.
On the contrary, Jalna and Sangli witnessed relatively higher arrivals and medium-grade produce, keeping prices restricted between ₹3,000 and ₹5,700.
Overall, mandis with low arrivals and better quality recorded strong prices, while markets with higher arrivals or weaker quality faced price pressure.
