The Uttar Pradesh government remains firmly committed to the welfare of farmers. In line with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister Kisan Accident Welfare Scheme is being fully digitised to ensure that farmers and their families do not have to visit government offices repeatedly to receive compensation in case of an accident. The Board of Revenue is fast-tracking the digitisation process, with a target to complete it by February 2026.
During a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal, officials of the Board of Revenue informed that once the digitisation is complete, the entire operation of the scheme will be conducted online. This will make the compensation process more time-bound, efficient, and transparent. With support from the National Informatics Centre (NIC), a modern web portal and software are being developed to digitise the entire workflow from application submission to benefit disbursement.
Through the new portal, farmers will be able to apply online, upload documents, complete verification, obtain approvals, and receive compensation payments digitally. Earlier, while applications could be submitted online, verification and other procedures required physical visits, causing inconvenience to farmers. Once the scheme becomes fully online, farmers will no longer need to visit tehsil or district offices repeatedly, and the scope for corruption will be significantly reduced. Officials said that the portal upgrade is underway and will be completed by February 2026.
The Chief Minister Kisan Accident Welfare Scheme was launched in 2019. According to the division-wise report of the Board of Revenue, around 29,394 farmers’ applications have been approved up to December 2025. The highest number of approvals were recorded in the Lucknow division (3,569) and Gorakhpur division (3,143), followed by Ayodhya division (2,491) and Kanpur division (2,436).
The scheme provides a strong safety net for farmers and their families in the event of an accident. Under the scheme, financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh is provided in cases of death or permanent disability of a farmer due to an accident. This digital initiative by the Board of Revenue is a significant step towards realising the Chief Minister’s vision of Digital India and e-governance.
Multiple Benefits for Farmers: With the digitisation of the scheme, farmers will be able to apply from home, track their application status online, and receive compensation directly into their bank accounts. This will not only simplify the process but also ensure timely financial support to farmers and their families during critical times.
