Maharashtra’s wheat markets witnessed significant volatility today. Mumbai APMC recorded the highest arrival of 776 MT, yet prices soared between ₹3,000 and ₹5,800, the highest range across the state. Kalyan and Sangli also reported strong demand for Sharbati wheat, with prices touching ₹4,000, indicating robust interest in premium varieties.

Contrast, markets across Vidarbha and Marathwada such as Hinganghat, Hingoli, and Morshi saw prices drop to ₹2,000–₹2,400, which is below the MSP. Weak local demand and average grain quality contributed to the decline. Markets like Jalna, Akola, Dhule, and Gangapur showed stable pricing between ₹2,500–₹2,750, suggesting balanced market conditions.

Delhi, both Najafgarh and Narela reported low arrivals, but prices remained stable and slightly higher than expectations, ranging from ₹2,535 to ₹2,708. Strong consumer demand in the capital kept the rates firm.

Advice for Farmers

  • Best time to sell Sharbati wheat: Prices are high in Sangli, Kalyan, and Nagpur. Farmers growing premium varieties can benefit from selling now.
  • Where prices are below MSP: Markets like Hinganghat, Morshi, and Hingoli, farmers should hold their stock if they can, as rates are expected to improve soon.
  • Heavy-arrival markets: Places like Mumbai and Jalna, avoid panic selling. Prices may soften slightly next week but are expected to remain stable overall.
  • For farmers without storage facilities: It is advisable to sell the crop before temperatures rise to avoid quality deterioration.
