To make farming more scientific and technologically advanced, the Agriculture Department has launched a new initiative. Under this initiative, farmers will now be able to get their soil tested through a mobile app and receive free Soil Health Cards. This will help them understand the fertility of their land and adopt better farming practices.

Soil Health Card Campaign for Kharif 2025:

As part of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PMRKVY) for the year 2025–26, a special campaign will be conducted in selected Gram Panchayats of Lucknow division under the National Project on Soil Health and Fertility. The Directorate of Agriculture, Uttar Pradesh will run this campaign in 16,520 selected Gram Panchayats across all districts on April 21, 25, 29 and May 5, 2025.

In 70% of these Gram Panchayats, 100 soil samples per village will be collected on a random basis, analyzed, and farmers will be issued free Soil Health Cards.
Soil Nutrient Analysis to Boost Crop Production

According to Dr. Manmohan Lal, Assistant Director (Soil Testing), the primary objective of soil testing is to assess the levels of nutrients present in the soil. This helps farmers identify nutrient deficiencies and take corrective measures to improve soil quality. Ultimately, this process supports increased crop production.

Agriculture Department Appeals for Farmer Participation:

Dr. Lal has urged farmers from selected Gram Panchayats to actively participate in this campaign alongside officials from the agriculture department and trained Krishi Sakhis. He encouraged farmers to submit their soil samples through the mobile app to receive accurate information about their soil fertility and choose appropriate fertilizers accordingly.

A Step towards Enhancing Land Productivity: Dr. Manmohan Lal, Deputy Director of Agriculture, stated that soil testing and acid soil remediation play a significant role in increasing agricultural output. By adopting modern and appropriate technologies, farmers can not only boost their yield but also contribute to environmental conservation.
