Market Trend & Price Analysis

Madhya Pradesh: Potato prices ranged between ₹191 and ₹1,311/quintal today. Indore and Ujjain recorded heavy arrivals, keeping prices stable. Despite lower arrivals in Katni and Morena, the prices remained steady. Ujjain saw the lowest price of ₹191/quintal, the lowest in the entire state.

Maharashtra: Both arrivals and prices showed wide variation across the state.
Major mandis like Vashi, Pune and Nagpur saw heavy arrivals but still maintained rates between ₹1,700–₹2,300/quintal.
Hingna, with only 1.3 quintal arrivals, recorded the highest price of the day at ₹2,500/quintal.
Junnar and Akola also reached up to ₹2,200/quintal, while markets like Kalyan and Amravati reported moderate prices.

Overall: Markets with heavy arrivals stayed under pressure, whereas mandis with low supply showed clear price strength. Compared to Maharashtra, prices in Madhya Pradesh were significantly lower, increasing the chances of reduced earnings for farmers selling immediately.

Important Tips for Farmers

  1. In mandis with heavy arrivals (Vashi, Pune, Nagpur), farmers should avoid selling immediately. Prices may improve in the coming days.
  2. Where prices are strong (Hingna, Akola, Nashik, Sangli), it is advisable to sell now for maximum profit.
  3. If you have cold storage, holding the stock for 10–15 days may yield better prices.
  4. Keep checking mandi rates daily, as potato prices are experiencing rapid fluctuations.
