Potato Mandi Update: Heavy Arrivals Push Prices Down in Delhi–UP, Check Where Rates Remain Strong

Potato Prices Today
Potato Prices Today

If you are planning to sell or purchase potatoes today, this update is crucial for you. Today’s mandi prices from major potato markets across the country surprised both farmers and traders. Heavy arrivals in several large mandis of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh created strong pressure on the market, leading to a sharp decline of up to ₹300 per quintal in many locations.

However, the situation is not uniform everywhere. While excessive supply pulled prices down in high-arrival markets, mandis with limited arrivals and better quality potatoes managed to hold firm prices. In select markets, good-quality potatoes were still traded at rates as high as ₹1,100 per quintal, clearly indicating that the current market trend is heavily influenced by quality and supply balance.

Today’s potato mandi trends suggest that price volatility may continue in the coming days. In such a scenario, choosing the right market, timing the sale carefully, and adopting a proper storage strategy will be key to maximizing profits.

Price and Arrival Trend Analysis:

The highest arrivals were recorded in Delhi’s Keshopur (1,567 tonnes) and Azadpur (1,441 tonnes) mandis, which pushed minimum prices down to ₹300–₹400 per quintal. Markets such as Kanpur, Ayodhya, and Lucknow also witnessed heavy arrivals, keeping prices within a narrow range.

On the other hand, low-arrival mandis showed strong price performance. In Lalganj, with arrivals of just 1.2 tonnes, prices climbed to ₹900–₹1,100 per quintal. Bareilly and Mahoba also recorded stable prices around ₹780–₹800, supported by limited supply.

Overall, the trend remains clear: high arrivals are pulling prices down, while low supply is helping farmers secure better rates.

Advisory for Farmers

  1. In high-arrival mandis such as Azadpur, Keshopur, and Kanpur, potato prices are currently under pressure—avoid panic selling.
  2. Farmers with good-quality produce can target low-arrival mandis like Lalganj, Bareilly, and Mahoba for better returns.
  3. Those with storage facilities may benefit by holding stock, as prices could improve in the coming days.
  4. Sorting potatoes by quality and selling them in different suitable mandis can significantly increase profitability.
