Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Shri Edal Singh Kansana announced that over 6 lakh farmers have registered on the Government of India’s Organic Farming Portal. The key objective of this initiative is to provide farmers with better market access for their organic produce.
Over the past 21 years, the International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) has made a significant contribution by training and connecting nearly 3 lakh farmers with product certification.

Special Event in Bhopal:

Shri Kansana was the chief guest at ICCOA’s program organized at Sayaji Hotel in Bhopal, which saw the enthusiastic participation of farmers from Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

Benefits under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana:

Highlighting the government’s commitment, the Minister noted that the event was organized under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) of the Government of India. So far, nearly 25 lakh farmers across the country have benefitted under this scheme, covering around 15 lakh hectares of farmland. In Madhya Pradesh alone, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, around 7.5 lakh farmers are practicing organic farming.

A Direct Platform for Farmers and Sellers:

The Minister emphasized that such programs serve as a crucial platform connecting farmers directly with sellers, ensuring that farmers not only receive inspiration to adopt organic farming but also gain access to fair markets and better prices for their produce.

Balanced Farming for a Healthy Life: Sharing his personal farming experience, Shri Kansana said that excessive use of chemical fertilizers, driven by the pursuit of higher profits, is adversely affecting human health. He recalled how earlier households maintained cows and buffaloes, which contributed to the purity of farming practices. He stressed the importance of promoting livestock along with farming to maintain a natural balance and ensure healthy food production.
