Today, onion prices across India showed strong volatility in some markets prices surged up to ₹2,800 per quintal, while in others they dropped sharply to ₹800 per quintal.
Many mandis in Bihar witnessed a strong upward trend in prices, whereas major markets in Haryana faced pressure due to heavy arrivals. In several regions, low arrivals pushed rates upward, while some mandis reported a steep decline due to oversupply.

Today, the highest price surge was seen in Barahat APMC (Bihar) where maximum rates touched ₹2,800 per quintal. In contrast, Kochas, Sasaram, and Piro recorded moderate to stable prices.
Haryana, some markets also witnessed strong upward movement especially Dhand (₹2,500) and Hansi (₹2,500) where prices remained firm. On the other hand, mandis like Gurugram, Bahadurgarh, Rewari, and Sirsa recorded minimum prices as low as ₹800, indicating that a lot of low-quality onion was supplied in these markets.
Terms of arrivals, Gurugram APMC topped the list with 77 tonnes, followed by Sirsa (29 tonnes) and Hansi (15.8 tonnes). High arrivals naturally pushed prices downward in these mandis.
Contrast, mandis like Chhachhrauli, Dhand, Hasanpur, and Bahadurganj recorded extremely low arrivals between 0.1 to 1 tonne resulting in stronger prices. Due to low supply, Chhachhrauli saw prices go up to ₹2,000, while Dhand touched ₹2,500.
