Today, the strongest upward trend in Basmati prices was seen in Haryana, where mandis like Pillukhera, Sonipat, and Jind recorded maximum rates between ₹4000 and ₹4110 per quintal. The primary reason for this price rise is the lower arrival of poor-quality paddy and a surge in demand for cleaner, high-grade Basmati.
Jullana, which witnessed the highest arrival of the day (7590 tonnes), saw the minimum price fall to ₹2890, although premium-quality lots still managed to secure prices up to ₹4000.
Punjab, prices remained stable but firm. Rayya mandi recorded the highest price of ₹3700. Mansa and Kotkapura mandis kept 1509 variety within the normal range. Muktsar and Bareta reported moderate arrivals, maintaining prices in the ₹3100–3560 bracket.
Overall, mandis with low arrivals showed strong price jumps, while heavy arrival locations saw mild pressure. The 1121 Basmati variety continues to show strong momentum across North India with prices between ₹3000 and ₹4100.
