According to information reported by DISCOMs, more than 18.93 lakh (1.89 million) beneficiaries have received zero electricity bills during at least one billing cycle after installing rooftop solar systems.
The extent of savings depends on factors such as household electricity consumption, self-consumption of solar power, and overall energy generation. Homes that utilize most of the electricity generated by their rooftop systems typically experience the greatest financial benefits.
Government and Commercial Buildings Also Encouraged:
Beyond residential consumers, the PM Surya Ghar initiative also promotes rooftop solar installations on government offices, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings.
However, these categories are not eligible for Central Financial Assistance (CFA), as the government considers rooftop solar projects financially viable for such institutions without subsidy support.
