Market Analysis: Why Prices Shot Up?

Today, Gohana (Haryana) recorded the sharpest jump with prices touching ₹6,000 per quintal. Markets like Hansi, Bhiwani and Hisar also remained strong in the ₹3,500–₹5,000 range due to lower arrivals and strong demand.

On the other hand, Ambala and Gurugram reported higher arrivals, keeping prices around ₹2,000–₹3,000.

In Maharashtra, prices were relatively stable but highly volatile in a few markets:

  • Hingna saw a massive range of ₹1,800–₹4,050
  • Kamthi and Mumbai remained strong at ₹2,800–₹4,000
  • Chandrapur and Bhusawal remained under pressure due to higher supply and mixed quality, with rates between ₹1,500–₹2,400

Overall:

  • Low arrivals = high prices
  • Heavy arrivals = weak prices

Important Advice for Farmers:

1. Sell Early in High-Price Areas:

Markets like Gohana, Hansi and Bhiwani are offering excellent rates. Farmers here can sell immediately to secure good profits.

2. Hold Stock in Heavy Arrival Areas:

Markets such as Chandrapur, Jalgaon and parts of Pune division have high arrivals and subdued prices. Rates may improve in 2–3 days.

3. Focus on Grading & Clean Packing:

High-quality, uniform-size tomatoes are fetching ₹4,000–₹6,000. Proper cleaning, sorting and packing ensure better prices.

4. Watch Weather & Arrival Reports:

Rain predictions this week may impact quality. Sudden dips in supply can lead to another price surge.
