Farmers in Madhya Pradesh now have an opportunity to adopt modern irrigation systems with substantial government financial support. The state government has opened online applications on the e-Krishi Yantra Anudan Portal for subsidies on drip irrigation systems, sprinkler sets, and mini sprinklers.

The application process, which began on July 13, 2026, is being implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY – Micro Irrigation) through the Dhan-Dhaanya Agriculture Scheme and the National Agriculture Development Scheme (RKVY) Pressurized Irrigation Project. The initiative aims to promote water-efficient irrigation technologies, reduce irrigation costs, conserve water resources, and improve agricultural productivity across the state.

Subsidy Available on Modern Irrigation Equipment:

According to the Agriculture Department, eligible farmers can apply for financial assistance on the following micro-irrigation systems: Drip Irrigation System, Sprinkler Set, Mini Sprinkler. These irrigation technologies enable farmers to irrigate larger areas using significantly less water, improving water-use efficiency while enhancing crop growth and yields.

How Much Subsidy Will Farmers Receive?

PMKSY (Micro Irrigation) and RKVY–Micro Irrigation, eligible beneficiaries can receive up to 55% subsidy on approved irrigation equipment. Other eligible farmer categories may receive up to 45% financial assistance, depending on government guidelines. Farmers can also estimate the subsidy amount based on their landholding category, irrigation system, and project cost using the department's official subsidy calculator.

The Agriculture Department has made it clear that an Agri Stack Farmer ID is mandatory for submitting an application under the scheme. Farmers who do not already have a Farmer ID must obtain one before applying, as applications submitted without this identification will not be accepted.

Adopt Micro-Irrigation to Save Water and Improve Productivity:

Agricultural experts recommend micro-irrigation technologies such as drip and sprinkler systems as effective solutions for improving water-use efficiency, particularly in water-scarce regions. These systems help reduce water consumption, improve fertilizer efficiency, lower labour costs, and increase crop productivity. With government support of up to 55% subsidy, the scheme offers farmers an excellent opportunity to modernize irrigation practices while reducing production costs and improving farm income.
