Farmers in Rewa division have set a new record in Kharif sowing this year, exceeding the targets set by the Agriculture Department. Timely and sufficient rainfall since June has boosted farmer enthusiasm, resulting in higher-than-expected sowing. Against the target of 9.92 lakh hectares, sowing has already been completed on 9.96 lakh hectares of farmland.
Paddy, the major Kharif crop, witnessed remarkable growth. While the target was fixed at 6.98 lakh hectares, farmers, supported by good rainfall and irrigation facilities, have successfully sown paddy across 7.12 lakh hectares.
Other Kharif Crops:
According to Joint Director of Agriculture K.S. Netam, not just paddy but other crops have also exceeded their sowing targets:
All Districts Achieved Targets:
Rewa, Mauganj, and Satna districts achieved 100% of their sowing targets. Maihar exceeded with 101%, Sidhi achieved 100%, and Singrauli topped with 102%. Officials confirmed that crop conditions across the division are satisfactory, and with continued rainfall, production prospects are expected to improve further.
