The monsoon has intensified once again across many parts of India, with forecasts indicating widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall in several regions over the coming days. According to the latest updates from the national weather agency, states including Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Telangana may witness intense downpours today.
Rain activity is likely to remain active in the hilly and adjoining plains of northwestern India throughout the week. On July 23, very heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. Jammu & Kashmir may continue to receive heavy rain on both July 23 and 24, while Himachal Pradesh is forecasted to experience increased rainfall from July 26 to 28.
In Uttarakhand, intermittent rain is likely to persist from July 23 to 28. Rainfall may also intensify again in Punjab and Haryana on July 27 and 28. Uttar Pradesh is expected to see more rain between July 25 and 28. In Rajasthan, eastern parts may see heavy rain on July 23 and again from July 26 to 28, while western Rajasthan may receive showers on July 27 and 28.
Moderate rainfall with occasional thunderstorms and lightning is likely across the western Himalayan region and adjoining plains over the next seven days. The weather office has urged residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions, especially during intense thunderstorm events.
The persistent heavy rain may lead to waterlogging and disruption in road and rail traffic in low-lying areas. Farmers are advised to implement appropriate water drainage systems in their fields and stay informed through regular weather updates to safeguard their crops and livestock.
