The weather in Madhya Pradesh continues to shift unpredictably, bringing contrasting conditions across different regions of the state. While many districts are reeling under scorching heat and rising humidity, several areas have received welcome showers in the past two days, offering a brief respite.
Indore experienced significant rainfall on Monday, recording nearly 19 mm, which led to waterlogging in several low-lying parts of the city. The heavy downpour disrupted traffic and caused urban flooding in multiple areas. In contrast, Bhopal remained hot and humid throughout the day, with clear skies and rising temperatures making conditions uncomfortable for residents. Seoni district also witnessed a heavy spell of rain, measuring around 19 inches, while Betul, Chhindwara, and Balaghat received moderate rainfall of approximately half an inch each.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall activity is likely to intensify in the coming days. Eastern Madhya Pradesh may see heavy rainfall between July 25 and 27, while western parts of the state could experience very heavy downpours on July 26 and 27. Rain is expected to be more widespread in western districts and scattered in the east.
The IMD also forecasts active monsoon conditions over northwestern India. On July 22, isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may receive very heavy rainfall. Rain is also likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh from July 22 to 27, with varying intensity across the days. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also possible during this period.
Advisory Issued for Affected Regions: In light of the heavy rainfall forecast, authorities have urged residents particularly in flood-prone areas to stay alert and follow safety guidelines. Precautionary measures are advised to avoid waterlogging-related hazards and to ensure public safety amid changing weather conditions.
