Farmers, today the country’s chana (desi & kabuli chickpea) markets witnessed significant price fluctuations. In some mandis, farmers were forced to sell below the MSP of ₹5,650/quintal, while in Uttar Pradesh’s top markets, prices soared to ₹6,700/quintal, bringing relief and smiles to many farmers.

In Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, farmers are facing losses as prices continue to remain below MSP. On the other hand, Raebareli, Naugarh, and Mugrabadshahpur mandis in Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest rates today.

Large arrival mandis mostly showed stable prices, while mandis with lower arrivals saw a sharp rise in prices. Market experts believe that in the coming days, prices may rise further in low-arrival mandis.

Suggestions for Farmers:

  • Farmers with high-quality Desi chana should consider selling in Raebareli, Naugarh, and Mugrabadshahpur, where prices are strong.
  • In mandis offering below-MSP prices (like Jetpur, Bagasara, Harda), if storage facilities are available, avoid immediate sales.
  • In low-arrival markets, prices are likely to rise further in the coming days—farmers should keep track of these mandis.
