Weather conditions across India have seen significant changes recently. Many states are experiencing thunderstorms and rain, offering some relief from the intense heat. Intermittent showers have also been reported in Gujarat and Maharashtra over the past few days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms and rain are likely to continue over northwest and central parts of the country for the next 4 to 5 days. Some areas may also witness strong winds and lightning.
The IMD has issued a warning for heavy rain and lightning in northeastern states until May 13. Meanwhile, parts of eastern India may face heatwave conditions.
Delhi and nearby areas could see light rain today and tomorrow. Thunderstorms and wind speeds of 30 to 40 km/h are also expected.
States Likely to Receive Rain Today:
Rain Forecast for Hill States: The IMD predicts rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Wind speeds in these regions may vary between 40 and 60 km/h.
Rain Likely in South India Too: From May 9 to 12, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Karnataka, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Kerala. Wind speeds may range from 30 to 50 km/h.
Heatwave Alert in Eastern India: From May 10, many parts of eastern India are expected to face heatwave conditions. On May 9, high temperatures are likely in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Between May 10 and 14, heatwaves may occur in different areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and coastal West Bengal.
