Weather conditions across the country are undergoing a significant change. According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold wave conditions are expected to intensify in northern parts of India, while southern states may witness several days of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The department has advised people to remain cautious and urged farmers to consider weather conditions while managing crops and harvesting activities.
The past 24 hours, several regions of Madhya Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh experienced cold wave to severe cold wave conditions. Parts of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand also recorded a sharp drop in temperatures. According to IMD, minimum temperatures in central, eastern, and northwestern India will continue to remain below normal for the next 2–3 days.
Minimum temperatures in many states have fallen by up to 5°C below normal, including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, and Telangana.
IMD has issued the following alerts:
A low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal remains active and is expected to move northwestward in the next 24 hours. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea near south Kerala is also influencing the weather conditions.
