Watermelon Market Prices Today - (May 07, 2026)

As temperatures continue to rise, the watermelon market is gaining momentum across the country. Today’s mandi report shows a huge variation in prices in some markets, watermelon is selling for as low as ₹400 per quintal, while in others, prices have reached up to ₹2,200 per quintal.

According to the latest report dated 7 May 2026, watermelon market prices are currently driven mainly by quality, sweetness, and market selection. Despite massive arrivals in Delhi’s Azadpur mandi, prices have remained firm due to strong demand. Meanwhile, several markets in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are offering premium rates because of lower arrivals and better-quality produce.

This clearly indicates that grading, quality, and timing are the key factors determining profits this season. Farmers who sell without proper planning may receive lower returns, while those focusing on quality and smart market selection can earn significantly better profits.

Market Analysis: Arrivals and Price Trends:

Mandis with the Highest Arrivals

  • Delhi’s Azadpur APMC recorded the highest arrivals at 936.6 tonnes
  • Despite the heavy supply, prices remained strong at up to ₹1,600 per quintal, reflecting robust demand
  • Mumbai Fruit Market received around 240 tonnes, while Pune APMC recorded 139.9 tonnes of arrivals

These major markets are witnessing healthy consumer demand due to rising summer temperatures.

Mandis with the Highest Prices:

  • Sehore (Madhya Pradesh) and Pune (Maharashtra) recorded the highest prices at ₹2,200 per quintal
  • Solapur mandi also reported strong prices up to ₹2,100 for sweet, high-quality watermelon

Markets with Lower Prices:

  • Petlawad mandi reported prices between ₹400–₹500

  • Manchar mandi recorded the lowest rate at ₹400 per quintal

Lower prices in these markets may be due to oversupply or average-quality produce.

Advice for Farmers:

1. Focus on Sweetness and Size Before Harvest:

Large-sized and sweeter watermelons are receiving premium prices in the market.

2. Consider Transportation Costs Carefully:

Big mandis like Delhi and Mumbai offer attractive prices, but high transport expenses can reduce actual profits.

3. Reach the Market Early in the Morning:

Fresh produce arriving early tends to attract more buyers and better rates during summer.

4. Grade Produce by Size and Quality:

Selling premium-quality and larger watermelons separately can help farmers earn additional profits.
