The impact of government schemes in Uttar Pradesh is now clearly visible from villages to urban areas. Once confined largely to household responsibilities, women in the state are increasingly stepping into economic activities and taking on leadership roles across various sectors.

UP Becomes a Front-Runner in Women’s Economic Empowerment:

Uttar Pradesh now hosts one of the largest networks of women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the country. Millions of women are advancing towards entrepreneurship through models like Bank Sakhi, BC Sakhi, and Krishi Sakhi. These initiatives have created a strong and sustainable livelihood platform, especially for rural women. The growing presence of women in rural banking has significantly strengthened financial inclusion.

ODOP Scheme Unlocks New Livelihood Opportunities:

The Yogi government’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative has opened new avenues for women to connect with livelihood opportunities based on local products. Their participation has surged in sectors such as handloom, handicrafts, food processing, and other traditional industries. Easy access to credit, training, market linkages and digital platforms has helped women become more self-reliant and expand their income sources.

Startup Policy Expands the Scope of Women-led Enterprises:

According to the Agriculture Department, the state’s startup policy offers special incentives to women entrepreneurs. Financial grants and expert guidance have encouraged women to enter technology-driven startups. Women associated with SHGs are successfully running nutrition programmes, uniform manufacturing units, sanitation services, and local production centers — demonstrating how women’s empowerment is reshaping the rural economy.

Government Schemes Boost Women’s Participation in Economic Growth:

These initiatives have led to a significant shift: women are no longer restricted to domestic roles but are actively contributing to income generation and financial decision-making. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, efforts to provide women with safety, dignity, and opportunities have strengthened their position in society. Uttar Pradesh is steadily transforming women’s empowerment into a core pillar of its social and economic development.

‘Kranti Didi’ of Ayodhya Becomes an Inspiration:

Kranti Didi, a member of the Avadhpuri Women’s Self-Help Group in Hajipur Singhpur village of Masodha block, has emerged as a symbol of empowerment. With a loan of ₹50,000, she expanded her livelihood activities and created job opportunities for other women. Access to credit and facilities through SHGs is helping thousands of women like her achieve economic independence.

Key Statistics Highlighting Women’s Economic Empowerment in UP:
