Tomato Prices

Tomato prices grabbed attention across major mandis in India today. In some markets, tomatoes sold at rock-bottom rates, while in others, the prices skyrocketed up to ₹5,000 per quintal. Naturally, every farmer wants to know: how much profit can they earn selling tomatoes in their nearest mandi today?

From Delhi to Maharashtra, the tomato market saw extreme fluctuations. Mandis with heavy arrivals faced price pressure, whereas limited supply and better-quality tomatoes fetched premium rates. Notably, Maharashtra’s Panvel and Mumbai mandis outperformed all others in terms of pricing.

Price and Arrival Analysis:

The strongest price surge was observed in Panvel APMC, where limited arrivals of 71 tonnes pushed tomato prices to ₹4,000–₹5,000 per quintal. Similarly, Mumbai mandis saw strong demand, maintaining rates between ₹3,000 and ₹3,600.

On the other hand, Azadpur mandi in Delhi, with 461 tonnes of arrivals, witnessed prices limited to ₹1,200–₹2,800 per quintal. Pune APMC also faced pressure due to high arrivals of 355 tonnes, keeping prices at ₹1,200–₹2,500.

Mandi with low arrivals, such as Hingna, Kamthi, and Keshopur, saw higher prices for good-quality tomatoes, while Pandharpur and Kalyan witnessed lower rates due to weak demand, with prices falling to ₹500–₹1,200 per quintal.

Advisory for Farmers

  1. Farmers with good-quality tomatoes can maximize returns by selling in Panvel, Mumbai, and Keshopur mandis.
  2. In high-arrival mandis like Azadpur and Pune, evaluate market prices before selling, as price pressure is strong.
  3. If storage facilities or nearby alternative mandis are available, consider holding produce for a short period to achieve better rates.
