Sharbati Wheat Sets a New Record at ₹4,500: The Sangli mandi reported the highest wheat price across Maharashtra at ₹4,500 per quintal, clearly indicating high demand and top quality in the Sharbati wheat variety. Similarly, Nagpur and Solapur mandis also recorded strong performance for Sharbati wheat, with rates ranging from ₹3,500 to ₹4,150.
Below-Average Prices in Other Mandis: Contrast, mandis like Hinganghat, Umred, and Murtizapur offered prices closer to MSP. For instance, Umred recorded prices from ₹2,425 to ₹2,800, while Murtizapur prices ranged between ₹2,435 and ₹2,665 – barely providing any profit over the minimum support price.
Big Price Gaps Between Varieties: Lasalgaon mandi saw arrivals of Maharashtra 2189 variety, priced between ₹2,530 and ₹2,800. Meanwhile, Gangakhed mandi offered ₹3,000 to ₹3,200 even for general varieties, significantly higher than the average.
Farmers’ Opinions: Farmers shared that those who brought clean and well-sorted wheat to the mandis and timed their sales well managed to get prices much above the MSP. However, where market saturation or average quality prevailed, prices were still stuck between ₹2,425 and ₹2,500 per quintal.
