17 September 2025 Know Where Rice is Selling Expensively and Where Prices are Low

Today, rice prices across major markets in India showed a mixed trend. In some Maharashtra markets, high-quality rice reached rates as high as ₹4,850/quintal, while in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, prices ranged between ₹2,400 and ₹3,550/quintal.

In Maharashtra, 1009 Kar variety rice in Vasai mandi traded at ₹3,450–₹4,850/quintal, whereas Mangon recorded rates of ₹1,900–₹4,800/quintal. In most Uttar Pradesh markets, III and Common varieties dominated, with prices ranging between ₹2,400 and ₹3,550/quintal.

  • Highest Price → Vasai (₹4,850/quintal) and Mangon (₹4,800/quintal) in Maharashtra.

  • Largest Arrivals → Allahabad (300 tonnes) and Sitapur (182.2 tonnes), putting pressure on prices.
  • Low Arrival, High Prices → Vasai (37 tonnes), Mangon (4.3 tonnes), Doharighat (1 tonne) saw firm rates due to limited stock.

  1. High-Quality Rice farmers in Maharashtra’s Vasai and Mangon markets should consider selling now — rates are high and profits favorable.
  2. High-Arrival Markets (Allahabad, Sitapur) are under price pressure — consider partial sales or storing stock if feasible.
  3. Low-Arrival Markets like Doharighat, Tundla, Vilthara Road may continue to offer higher rates.
  4. Seasonal Demand — With upcoming festivals, II–III grade rice prices are expected to rise in central and northern India.
