PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has successfully connected 10,118 consumers so far, disbursing a total subsidy of over ₹68.04 crore directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Managing Director Mr. Kshitij Singhal stated that the scheme aims to encourage households to adopt solar energy and promote energy savings. He urged consumers to ensure they get their solar rooftop systems installed only through authorized vendors registered with the distribution company after completing online registration.

Launched on 13 February 2024, the scheme has witnessed a strong response, with thousands of consumers enrolling within a few months.

Name Matching Mandatory for Timely Subsidy: To ensure smooth and timely subsidy transfers, it is mandatory that the consumer’s name in the bank account, Aadhaar card, and electricity bill matches exactly.
Smart Meters to Reduce Costs: From 1 December 2024, only smart meters will be installed with solar systems. These meters will be provided to consumers at SOR (Schedule of Rates), which will result in savings of ₹6,000 to ₹8,000 in vendor payments.
Strict Action against Vendor Negligence: The Managing Director directed that if any solar system equipped with a net meter, modem, and SIM fails to communicate data, a notice will be issued to the concerned vendor. If the issue persists, strict action will be taken against the vendor.
