PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Now subsidy of ₹78,000

The Central Government has launched the PM Surya Ghar Scheme with the objective of providing free electricity to households and promoting the use of renewable energy. Under this initiative, consumers installing rooftop solar panels are eligible for attractive subsidies.
Subsidy Structure for Rooftop Solar Plants:
- 1 kW solar plant – ₹30,000 subsidy
- 2 kW solar plant – ₹60,000 subsidy
- 3 kW to 10 kW solar plant – Up to ₹78,000 subsidy
Government aims to bring consumers across the country under this scheme, enabling households to adopt solar energy, reduce electricity bills, and support India's journey toward energy self-reliance.
Growing Popularity in the Central Region:
According to the Madhya Pradesh Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company, more than 6,377 consumers have already enrolled in the scheme since its launch on 13 February 2024. The response continues to grow as more people opt for rooftop solar installations.
How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana:
Consumers can easily apply online through the official portal: www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in

Step-by-Step Online Application Process:
- Visit pmsuryaghar.gov.in and complete the registration process.
- Select your state and choose the relevant electricity distribution company (DISCOM).
- Enter your consumer number, mobile number, and email ID.
- Log in using your mobile and consumer number, then submit the rooftop solar application.
- Wait for approval from the DISCOM.
- Install the solar plant through an authorized vendor only.
- After installation, upload plant details on the portal.
- Following net-meter installation and inspection, the portal will generate the commissioning certificate.
- Upload your bank details and a cancelled cheque.
- Once the verification is completed, the subsidy amount will be credited to your bank account within 45 days.
