The Central Zone Power Distribution Company has announced that under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a total of 25,631 consumers from 16 districts across Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions have registered for rooftop solar installations. Eligible beneficiaries have already received a combined subsidy of ₹199.78 crore, directly transferred to their bank accounts.

Company Urges Consumers to Choose Only Authorized Vendors:

During a review meeting, the company’s Managing Director, Shri Kshitij Singhal, advised consumers to complete the online registration process and ensure that installation is done only through authorized vendors registered with the company.
He emphasized that the scheme aims to provide affordable and clean electricity to millions of households across India, and the company is actively working to deliver these benefits to every eligible consumer.

How Much Subsidy Is Available?

According to the MD, the Central Government is offering the following subsidies:

  1. ₹30,000 for a 1 kW solar plant
  2. ₹60,000 for a 2 kW solar plant
  3. ₹78,000 for 3 kW or above capacity

The scheme was launched on 13 February 2024, and since then thousands of consumers have availed its benefits.

Important Requirements to Avoid Subsidy Delays:

To ensure timely subsidy transfer, the name mentioned in the following three documents must be identical:

  1. Bank account
  2. Aadhaar card
  3. Electricity bill

Any mismatch may result in processing delays.

Smart Meters Reducing Installation Costs: The company further informed that smart meters are being installed in all rooftop solar systems under the scheme. These meters are supplied at SOR-approved rates, helping consumers save ₹6,000 to ₹8,000 on vendor payments.

Strict Action Against Poor Data Communication: The company has issued notices to vendors responsible for rooftop plants where net meters, modems, and SIMs are installed but data communication is not functioning. If the issue persists, strict action will be taken against the concerned vendors.
