Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) is gaining momentum as the government steps up efforts to improve agricultural performance in 100 identified districts across the country. The initiative aims to raise farm productivity, strengthen agricultural infrastructure and ensure that the benefits of government programmes reach farmers more effectively. The progress of the scheme was reviewed with a strong focus on district-level performance, convergence of government schemes, outcome-based monitoring and measurable benefits for farmers.
PM-DDKY covers 100 districts identified for their potential to improve agricultural productivity, cropping intensity, access to agricultural credit and related development indicators. The average performance score of these districts across six key objectives increased from 22.54 in April 2026 to 38.85 in July 2026. This represents an improvement of 16.31 points, or around 72%, in just four months.
The improvement indicates growing momentum in efforts to address some of the key structural challenges affecting agricultural development in the selected districts.
PM-DDKY is being implemented through the convergence of 36 Central schemes operated by 11 Ministries and Departments. State government programmes and private-sector participation are also being brought into the framework. To measure progress systematically, the government has identified 121 indicators, including 74 output indicators and 47 outcome indicators. The PM-DDKY dashboard is being used to monitor district performance regularly. While output indicators help track implementation and progress, outcome indicators are intended to assess whether interventions are producing meaningful improvements compared with the baseline.
All 100 Districts Submit Action Plans:
All 100 selected districts have uploaded their District Action Plans (DAPs), and feedback has been provided on each of them. The districts have also submitted data against output indicators up to July 2026. In addition, outcome-related data for the 2025-26 financial years has been submitted by all 100 districts. Monitoring committees have been established at the national, state and district levels. Central Nodal Officers are also conducting field-level reviews to assess the implementation of the scheme on the ground.
From Expenditure Tracking to Measuring Actual Farmer Benefits:
One of the major priorities under the strengthened monitoring framework is to move beyond simply tracking expenditure and completed activities. The government is now placing greater emphasis on determining how interventions are translating into tangible benefits for farmers. The Financial Progress Module of the PM-DDKY dashboard was launched on August 31, 2026. A Beneficiary Progress Module is targeted for implementation by mid-September 2026. These digital tools are expected to provide a more comprehensive picture of investments, activities, beneficiaries and outcomes across the 100 Dhan-Dhaanya districts.
More Than 6.9 Lakh Farmers Trained:

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) are being used as technical partners to support training, agricultural extension and field-level interventions. Their involvement is expected to help farmers access improved farming practices, technical knowledge and expert guidance.

The government is also seeking to expand the resource base for development activities in the identified districts through greater convergence. The Department of Public Enterprises has included the adoption of PM-DDKY districts under the CSR activities of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) for 2026-27 and 2027-28. This could create additional opportunities for investment in areas such as agriculture, irrigation, storage infrastructure, skill development and other rural development initiatives.
