Wheat procurement in Madhya Pradesh has gathered strong momentum this season, marking a significant milestone for the state. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput announced that a total of 44.16 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured so far from over 8.12 lakh farmers.

To streamline operations and enhance farmer convenience, the government has introduced several key changes. The timing for generating weighment slips has been extended from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, while payment processing deadlines have been pushed to midnight. Procurement activities are being conducted six days a week, from Monday to Saturday.

Extended Timeline and Slot Bookings:

So far, around 14.78 lakh farmers have booked slots for wheat procurement. In a farmer-friendly move, the last date for procurement has been extended from May 9 to May 23, 2026. This extension offers relief to those farmers who were unable to sell their produce earlier.

Strengthened Procurement Infrastructure:

The state has reinforced arrangements at procurement centres to ensure smoother operations. The number of weighing machines has been increased from four to six at each centre, with districts given the flexibility to add more if required. Additionally, server capacity has been upgraded to support seamless digital processes.
Authorities are closely monitoring slot bookings and procurement activities on an hourly basis to maintain transparency and efficiency throughout the process.

Timely Payments to Farmers:

Farmers have received payments worth ₹7,383.01 crore so far, providing a significant boost to rural incomes. Procurement centres are also equipped with essential facilities such as drinking water, shaded waiting areas, and other basic amenities to ensure farmer comfort.

Well-Equipped Procurement Centres:

To ensure timely weighing and handling of produce, all necessary arrangements have been made. These include adequate supply of gunny bags, weighing equipment, labour support, stitching machines, computers, internet connectivity, and quality testing devices. Cleaning tools such as fans and sieves are also available at the centres.

MSP and Bonus Benefits:

Wheat is being procured at a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2,585 per quintal. In addition, the state government is offering a bonus of ₹40 per quintal, taking the effective price to ₹2,625 per quintal for farmers.

Adequate Storage Arrangements: Proper storage arrangements have been ensured for the procured wheat. Both jute bags and PP/HDPE bags are being used to safely store the grain and prevent any post-harvest losses.
