Wheat procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) is picking up pace across Madhya Pradesh, with the state government ensuring timely payments and improved facilities for farmers. Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, authorities have streamlined the procurement process to ensure that farmers do not face delays or inconvenience while selling their produce.
So far, more than 7,000 farmers have sold around 306,190 quintals of wheat under the procurement drive. Notably, within just two days, payments worth ₹6.37 crore have been directly transferred to farmers’ bank accounts. This swift payment system has strengthened farmers’ confidence and encouraged higher participation at procurement centres.
The procurement process began on April 9 in the Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram divisions. It is scheduled to commence in the remaining divisions from April 15. So far, over 190,261 farmers have booked slots to sell nearly 8.51 million quintals of wheat. To facilitate smooth operations, the state has set up 3,171 procurement centres, where purchases are being conducted on working days.
According to Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput, all necessary arrangements have been made at active procurement centres. Farmers are being provided with shaded waiting areas, drinking water, adequate packaging material, weighing equipment, stitching machines, and digital facilities such as computers and internet. Quality testing tools and cleaning equipment are also in place to ensure a hassle-free selling experience.
For the Rabi Marketing Season 2026–27, wheat is being procured at an MSP of ₹2,585 per quintal, along with a state bonus of ₹40 per quintal, taking the effective price to ₹2,625 per quintal. Adequate storage arrangements have been made using jute as well as PP/HDPE bags. Additionally, about 105,260 quintals of procured wheat have already been transported for storage.

This year has witnessed a record registration of 1.904 million farmers for wheat procurement around 360,000 more than last year. While approximately 77 lakh metric tonnes of wheat were procured last year, the state has set a higher target of 78 lakh metric tonnes for the current season.
