The monsoon is now fully active across Madhya Pradesh, and the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall for the next three days. On Thursday, an alert for heavy to extremely heavy showers has been issued in 26 districts. Among them, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Khargone, Burhanpur, and Khandwa are expected to receive up to 8.5 inches of rain. Districts such as Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, and Betul are also under warnings for heavy rainfall.

Dam Gates Opened After Heavy Downpour:

On Wednesday, more than 25 districts witnessed intense rainfall, which led to a rise in river and reservoir levels. Authorities were compelled to open dam gates to release excess water. Meteorologists explained that a trough line combined with a cyclonic circulation is driving this active spell of rain.

Rainfall Recorded Across the State:

East Madhya Pradesh, Narsinghpur recorded 1.2 inches of rainfall. In the western region, Sheopur reported 1.6 inches, while Pachmarhi and Hoshangabad (Narmadapuram) received 1.2 inches each. Meanwhile, Bhopal (Arera Hills), Indore, Gwalior, Raisen, Shivpuri, Khargone, and Ratlam recorded around 0.8 inches of rain.

Forecast for the Coming Days:

According to the department, extremely heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh on September 5. East Madhya Pradesh is expected to witness moderate to heavy showers on September 4 and 5. Thunderstorms may also occur at several locations during this period.

Advisory for Citizens: With the monsoon remaining strong, authorities have warned of potential disruption to daily life, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and traffic issues. Citizens are advised to stay cautious, avoid waterlogged zones, and follow official instructions to ensure safety during this active spell of rain.
