The monsoon has once again intensified across North India. Continuous rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and Rajasthan has disrupted public life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alerts for several districts in the coming days, urging people to remain cautious.
Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing persistent rainfall for the past two days. The state capital, Lucknow, and several other districts recorded moderate to heavy showers.
The IMD’s Lucknow center has issued an orange and yellow alert for 25 districts on Wednesday, September 3.
Weather experts have warned that apart from heavy showers, rising temperatures in the coming days could lead to humid and uncomfortable conditions.
The national capital and adjoining areas have been reeling under heavy rains for the last 48 hours. Waterlogging and traffic jams have thrown public life out of gear.
The IMD has issued a red alert for Delhi-NCR on Wednesday.
Meteorologists predict that intermittent rainfall will continue in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad until September 5.
Rajasthan is also expected to witness a fresh spell of heavy rains. According to the Jaipur Meteorological Center, a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to advance further in the next 24 hours, bringing more rainfall to the state.
IMD’s Advisory: The IMD has appealed to people to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain spells. Residents are advised to stay alert in low-lying and waterlogged areas and remain in safe locations as a precaution.
