The month of September has begun with intense monsoon activity across Madhya Pradesh. On the very first day, widespread rainfall disrupted normal life in several parts of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation has developed over northwest Madhya Pradesh and nearby regions, triggering heavy downpours.
The weather office has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for 27 districts. Reports indicate extremely heavy showers are likely in Morena and Sheopur Kalan. Districts such as Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Burhanpur, Ujjain, Indore, Ratlam, Balaghat, Bhind, Gwalior, and Dewas are also expected to receive heavy rain.
In addition, light rainfall or drizzle is likely in Bhopal, Vidisha, Narmadapur, Jhabua, Dhar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Jabalpur, Chhatarpur, and Panna districts.
The downpour over the past 24 hours has already led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas. Rising water levels in rivers and streams may also affect road connectivity, especially in rural belts. The Meteorological Department has advised residents to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.
