Today Weather Alert
Today Weather Alert

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert warning that conditions may remain challenging across large parts of the country over the next few days. According to the department, dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail during morning hours in Uttar Pradesh weather, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Bihar, potentially affecting daily life and transportation.

Addition, IMD has issued warnings for cold and severe cold conditions in several areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Dense fog may also cause disruptions in parts of Northeast India, as well as Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Jharkhand.

Possibility of increase in cold in Delhi-NCR:

As per the forecast, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are expected to witness moderate to dense fog during morning hours between December 18 and 21. The sky is likely to remain partly cloudy during the daytime.

During this period, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 20°C and 24°C, while minimum temperatures may hover between 7°C and 10°C. Light wind conditions could further intensify the chill, especially during early mornings and late nights.

Cold wave wreaks havoc in Madhya Pradesh:

Cold northerly winds have led to a sharp drop in temperatures across Madhya Pradesh, resulting in cold wave conditions in several districts. On Thursday, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded in Mandsaur at 4.4°C.

Cold wave conditions were reported in Bhopal, Indore, and Shajapur, while minimum temperatures in 23 districts dropped close to 10°C. At present, one western disturbance is active as an upper-air cyclonic circulation over southwest Iran and adjoining regions, while another western disturbance persists over the Jammu region. However, due to the current weather systems, no major change in overall weather conditions is expected in the immediate future.

Weather Advisory for Farmers and Livestock Owners:

IMD has advised farmers to protect their crops from cold-related damage by carrying out light and frequent irrigation during evening hours. Covering vegetables and nursery plants with polythene sheets or straw has also been recommended to safeguard them from low temperatures.

Livestock owners have been advised to keep animals indoors during the night and ensure dry bedding. Poultry farmers are encouraged to provide adequate heating and lighting arrangements to protect chicks from the cold.
