Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited Satna district in Madhya Pradesh today and addressed students at a programme held in Excellence College. Speaking to the media after the event, he assured farmers of an adequate supply of fertilisers and urea, stressing that the welfare of farmers remains the Central Government’s top priority.
The Minister informed that the Ministry of Fertilisers is ensuring uninterrupted supply based on state requirements. Last year, Satna district recorded urea consumption of 23,585 metric tonnes, while this year, 27,700 metric tonnes have already been delivered. He added that an additional 1,500 metric tonnes of fertiliser was supplied to Satna today itself.
Shri Chouhan noted that favourable rainfall this season has led to an expansion in paddy cultivation, which in turn has raised the demand for urea beyond normal levels. He said that efforts are being made in coordination with the state government and local administration to strengthen the supply system and meet farmers’ needs without disruption.
The Minister shared that farmer organisations had submitted memorandums highlighting issues related to fertiliser availability. Immediate discussions were held with the administration and the state government, and he assured that no obstacles will be allowed in fertiliser or urea supply.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Shri Chouhan said that both the Central and State Governments are working in full coordination to ensure farmers’ requirements are fulfilled. If necessary, additional measures will be taken to further strengthen the supply system and support agricultural activities.
