MP Agro Unveils New Roadmap: Focus on Modern Technology and Income Growth

Horticulture and Food Processing Minister Shri Narayan Singh Kushwah has emphasized that the Madhya Pradesh State Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited (MP Agro) must explore new areas of operation and make concrete efforts to enhance revenue. He shared this vision while chairing the corporation’s 200th Board of Directors meeting, which was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Horticulture & Food Processing) Shri Anupam Rajan, Horticulture Commissioner Smt. Preeti Maithil, and other senior officials.

Role and Priorities of MP Agro:

Minister Kushwah highlighted that MP Agro is a key nodal agency of the state government under the agriculture and horticulture departments.

  • The corporation is responsible for implementing several horticulture schemes.
  • Directions were issued to complete cluster development projects under the National Horticulture Board within stipulated timelines.
  • Special focus was given to preparing a detailed plan for revenue growth at Babai Agricultural Farm in Narmadapuram and engaging specialized agencies for the use of machinery and equipment.

Emphasis on Efficiency and Transparency:

Additional Chief Secretary Shri Anupam Rajan stressed the need for MP Agro to reduce non-productive expenses.

  • He advised partnering with expert agencies to design more efficient projects instead of relying solely on traditional methods.
  • He also underlined the importance of expediting the tendering process to ensure timely delivery of scheme benefits to farmers.

Innovation and Modern Technology:

Commissioner of Horticulture and Food Processing Smt. Preeti Maithil suggested that MP Agro should adopt innovative practices to expand its business operations.

  • She proposed the introduction of drone technology and Agri-PV (solar power applications in agriculture).
  • She also recommended improving the tendering process timeline to enhance efficiency.

Targets and Achievements:

Managing Director Shri Arvind Dubey informed the board about the corporation’s upcoming goals and current progress:

  • For 2025–26, MP Agro has set a production target of 1.25 lakh liters of liquid bio-fertilizer, expected to generate revenue of approximately ₹1.96 crore.
  • During 2024–25, against a target of 2,470 biogas plants, the corporation successfully established 1,840 units.

Other Decisions: The board meeting also approved proposals related to the salaries and allowances of the corporation’s employees.
