To provide social security to unorganised, temporary and platform-based workers across the country, the Ministry of Labour & Employment launched the E-Shram Portal on 26 August 2021. As of November 2025, more than 31.38 crore unorganised workers and over 5.09 lakh platform workers have registered on the portal. The platform is currently integrated with 14 major central welfare schemes, giving workers seamless access to multiple government benefits.

Union Budget 2025–26 introduced key steps to support platform-based and temporary workers. These include issuing identification cards through the E-Shram Portal and extending health benefits under Ayushman Bharat. The government is also focusing on boosting employment opportunities and enhancing employability among youth and women.
Under the Skill India Mission, large-scale skilling and upskilling efforts are being carried out through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, PMKVY, and ITI-based training models.
The Ministry of Electronics & IT has launched the Future Skill Prime programme to train youth in AI and 10 other emerging technologies. Over 18.56 lakh candidates have registered so far, and more than 3.37 lakh have completed their training.
To drive job creation across sectors, including manufacturing, the government has launched the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, with an outlay of ₹99,446 crore. The scheme aims to catalyse over 3.5 crore jobs within two years.
The National Career Service (NCS) portal offers a unified platform for job seekers, providing access to job listings, career counselling, employment fairs, skill training, and job-matching services.
