Arhar Dal market rate update – 04/09/2025

For both farmers and consumers, September 4, 2025, proved to be a crucial day in the Arhar Dal (Tur Dal) market. Prices witnessed dramatic fluctuations across the country.

In Mumbai (Maharashtra), rates hit a record ₹12,000 per quintal, while in Chorichaura mandi of Uttar Pradesh, prices slipped to just ₹8,500 per quintal. This sharp contrast meant that on the same day, farmers and traders experienced both historic highs and steep lows.

While Maharashtra and Western UP mandis showed the strongest price momentum, Eastern UP markets remained under pressure. In such volatile conditions, keeping track of the latest mandi prices is essential for farmers and traders to maximize profits by selling at the right time and place.

  • Lowest Price: Chorichaura (UP) — ₹8,500/quintal.
  • Heavy Arrivals: Gorakhpur (90 tonnes) and Varanasi (58 tonnes) reported the largest inflows, which capped prices.
  • Low Arrivals, High Prices: Mohammadabad (just 0.5 tonnes, yet ₹10,800) and Etawah (7 tonnes, ₹10,700).

Farmer Advisory:

  1. Farmers in areas where rates have crossed ₹10,500/quintal should consider selling immediately for good profits.
  2. In mandis with prices below ₹9,500 (e.g., Chorichaura, Nawabganj, Mainpuri), farmers may hold stocks, as demand is likely to rise soon.
  3. In high-arrival mandis (Gorakhpur, Varanasi), prices are under pressure — farmers could explore federations or cooperatives for better marketing options.
  4. Strong prices in Maharashtra and Western UP indicate that other markets may also firm up in the coming weeks.
