Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, launched the “Angikaar 2025” campaign in New Delhi on September 4, 2025.
Angikaar 2025 is a large-scale outreach initiative aimed at accelerating the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) and spreading awareness across the country. The campaign will ensure last-mile delivery by reaching beneficiaries directly, fast-tracking application verification, and expediting the completion of sanctioned houses.
Key Objectives:
Speedy verification of applications and early completion of pending houses.
Spreading awareness about the Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing (CRGFTLIH).
Linking PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana with PMAY-U beneficiaries.
Prioritising housing for groups identified under the Special Focus Group (SFG).
Promoting convergence with other government schemes and strengthening community participation.
Progress So Far:
PMAY-U, 1.20 crore houses have been sanctioned, out of which 94.11 lakh pucca houses have already been delivered to beneficiaries. Angikaar 2025 will support the timely completion of the remaining houses. With PMAY-U 2.0, launched in September 2024, an additional 1 crore urban families will receive financial assistance of up to ₹2.5 lakh to build or purchase a house in cities.

A People’s Movement: Angikaar 2025 is being positioned as a Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) movement, ensuring that the benefits of housing schemes reach the most vulnerable sections of society. It represents a decisive step towards fulfilling the vision of ‘Housing for All’ and building a self-reliant urban India.
