Wheat procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) is picking up momentum across Madhya Pradesh, bringing relief to farmers. So far, over 17,000 farmers have sold nearly 775,000 quintals of wheat, with payments worth crores already credited directly to their bank accounts. The state government has streamlined the process through more than 3,000 procurement centres, while lakhs of farmers have pre-booked slots to sell their produce.

Procurement from 17,572 Farmers, Payments Ongoing:

According to Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput, a total of 775,240 quintals of wheat has been procured from 17,572 farmers so far. Payments of approximately ₹6.97 crore have already been transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts. Procurement began on April 9 in the Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram divisions, while the remaining divisions are set to start from April 15.

Strong Farmer Participation, Slots Booked in Advance:

Farmers across the state are actively participating in the procurement process. More than 209,000 farmers have already booked slots to sell over 9.3 million quintals of wheat. To support this, 3,171 procurement centres have been set up across the state, where operations are being conducted on working days.

Improved Facilities at Procurement Centres:

The government has ensured essential facilities at procurement centres to make the process smoother for farmers. These include shaded waiting areas, drinking water, adequate storage bags, weighing machines, stitching equipment, computers, internet access, and quality testing tools. Arrangements for cleaning and sorting of produce have also been made.

MSP with Bonus Benefit:

For the Rabi Marketing Season 2026–27, wheat is being procured at an MSP of ₹2,585 per quintal. In addition, the state government is offering a bonus of ₹40 per quintal, taking the total price to ₹2,625 per quintal for farmers.

Strong Storage and Transportation Arrangements:

Adequate arrangements have been made for the safe storage of procured wheat using jute bags as well as PP and HDPE bags. So far, over 105,000 quintals of wheat have already been transported. The government has confirmed that there is no shortage of storage materials.

Record Registrations, Higher Procurement Target:

This year, a record 1.904 million farmers have registered for wheat procurement, which is about 360,000 more than last year. While around 77 lakh metric tonnes of wheat were procured last year, the state has set a higher target of 78 lakh metric tonnes for the current season. Overall, the procurement drive in Madhya Pradesh is progressing smoothly, ensuring timely payments and better facilities for farmers, while strengthening the agricultural marketing system in the state.
