With the onset of December, winter conditions have tightened their grip across North India. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold wave conditions are likely to persist in parts of Punjab, Haryana weather, and East Rajasthan on December 6. Jharkhand may also experience a sharp drop in temperatures, leading to severe cold on December 7 and 8.
Delhi is expected to witness light fog in the morning, followed by a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky during the day. Today, the maximum temperature is forecast to range between 22°C and 25°C, while the minimum may dip to 4°C–9°C. On December 5, some parts of the capital may face cold wave conditions. The presence of northwesterly winds during morning and evening hours will further intensify the winter chill across the region.

Health authorities have advised sensitive groups especially the elderly, children, and those with respiratory issues to limit outdoor movement during morning and evening hours and to wear protective masks.
IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today. Increased moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal may lead to significant weather changes across coastal regions.

A dense fog warning has been issued for multiple northeastern and hill states, which may disrupt transportation.
Commuters, especially those traveling early in the morning, are advised to exercise caution due to the possibility of low visibility on roads and railway routes.
