Delhi–NCR continues to grapple with severe air pollution, with air quality hovering between the “very poor” and “poor” categories. Residents are experiencing increased breathing difficulties, eye irritation, and throat discomfort as pollution levels remain high. According to the latest readings recorded on Monday, Hapur (324), Ghaziabad (322), and Noida (321) reported “very poor” AQI levels. Delhi’s average AQI stood at 304, while Greater Noida (296), Gurugram (275), and Meerut (268) were in the “poor” zone.

No Cold Wave Expected Yet in Delhi:

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has clarified that Delhi is not likely to witness a cold wave in the immediate future. However, a slight dip in temperatures is expected to continue, which may intensify the morning and night chill. Northwest and eastern India are expected to see no major temperature change for the next 48 hours, after which a drop of 2–3°C is likely.

Central India, temperatures may rise by 2–3°C over the next two days before stabilizing. Meanwhile, the northeast is expected to witness a fall of 3–4°C after 48 hours. Gujarat and north Maharashtra may also see a 2–3°C temperature drop within the next 2–4 days.

Fog and Cold Wave Alerts Issued:

IMD has issued a dense fog alert for Himachal Pradesh from December 2 to 3. Punjab and Madhya Maharashtra may experience cold wave conditions from December 1 to 3. Eastern Rajasthan is expected to face similar conditions between December 4 and 7.

Cyclone ‘Ditwah’ Weakens but Rainfall Continues in South India:

Cyclone ‘Ditwah’ remains active over parts of South India, although it has weakened after affecting coastal Sri Lanka and parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal. Despite its weakening intensity, heavy rain is likely to continue in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema until December 2.

Chennai and nearby districts witnessed continuous rainfall on Monday, which led to waterlogged roads, uprooted trees, and significant damage to crops and livestock. The disruption has severely affected daily life across several regions.
