Watermelon farming offers the potential for substantial profits within a short period. With a bit of caution and the right information, you too can achieve a good income by venturing into watermelon cultivation this summer.
When to Plant Watermelon:
	- Watermelon planting is primarily carried out between January and March in most regions.

	- In hilly areas, planting can extend to March-April.

	- Harvesting typically occurs 2-3 months after planting.

What Type of Soil is Suitable:
	- Watermelons thrive in warm and sunny conditions.

	- For optimal growth, medium to dark soils with good drainage are preferred.

	- The soil pH should range between 5.5 to 7, with temperatures between 24 to 27 degrees Celsius.

Recommended Varieties:
	- Sugar Baby, Arka Jyoti, and Pusa Bedana are premium watermelon varieties.

	- These cultivars boast rapid ripening and high production capabilities.

Important Considerations:
	- Water the plants 5-7 days after planting, and then every 8-10 days after fruiting.

	- To combat diseases and pests, prepare a solution of Dino-cap or Carbendazim in 10 liters of water and apply it 2-3 times over a 15-day interval.

Tips for Maximizing Yield:
	- Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours prior to planting.

	- Routinely eliminate weeds from the field.

	- Apply fertilizers and manure punctually.
