Ahead of the upcoming Kharif sowing season, farmers have received a major relief as adequate stocks of fertilizers have been made available across the district. Agriculture officials confirmed that sufficient quantities of urea, DAP, NPK, SSP, and other fertilizers are currently stocked to meet farmers’ requirements during sowing operations.
The Agriculture Department has appealed to farmers to complete advance bookings based on their crop requirements to avoid last-minute difficulties during the peak sowing period.
Deputy Director of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, Ashish Pandey, said that fertilizer availability has been ensured in both Satna and Maihar districts. According to official figures, the districts currently have nearly 11,452 metric tonnes of urea, 9,785 metric tonnes of DAP, 9,167 metric tonnes of NPK, and 5,138 metric tonnes of SSP fertilizers in stock. The combined availability of DAP and NPK fertilizers alone stands at around 18,952 metric tonnes.
Officials stated that despite fluctuations in international markets and global supply conditions, the Government of India is maintaining uninterrupted fertilizer distribution as per schedule. This has helped ensure timely availability of fertilizers for farmers ahead of the Kharif season. Fertilizers are being distributed through cooperative societies, Markfed double-lock centers, and authorized private dealers. Information related to all distribution centers has been uploaded on the e-Vikas portal, allowing farmers to easily identify nearby supply points.
Farmers have been advised to use the e-Vikas portal for advance fertilizer booking and ensure timely collection from their respective centers. The portal also provides access to fertilizer facilities for revenue landholders, forest rights holders, sharecroppers, differently-abled farmers, elderly farmers’ family members, and religious institutions. The move is expected to improve accessibility and ensure wider benefits for eligible beneficiaries.
Agriculture Department stated that farmers can purchase fertilizers such as urea, DAP, NPK, SSP, and potash in recommended quantities according to crop requirements. If additional fertilizer is needed later, farmers can again complete the booking process through the portal and obtain further supplies. Agriculture experts believe that timely fertilizer availability will help ensure smooth Kharif sowing operations and support better crop productivity during the upcoming season.
