Uttar Pradesh government has approved ₹286.46 crore for a range of projects aimed at strengthening agriculture and allied sectors across the state. The funding will support agricultural infrastructure, modern farming facilities, horticulture, fisheries, seed storage, soil testing, farmer training, and agricultural education.
A two-year project worth ₹60 crore has been approved to modernize government agricultural farms in Uttar Pradesh. The initiative will include the introduction of modern farm machinery, installation of tubewells for irrigation and development of drainage facilities. The government has also sanctioned ₹2.78 crore to enhance the production capacity of nine Integrated Pest Management (IPM) laboratories operated by the Agriculture Department. Projects worth ₹8.80 crore have been approved for organizing farmer-scientist interaction programmes and Krishi Teerth initiatives through agricultural universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Funds Allocated for Farm Mechanization and Horticulture:
At the State Institute of Agricultural Management in Rahman Khera, ₹6.10 crore has been sanctioned for agricultural mechanization, combine harvester training and boundary wall construction. In addition, ₹5.98 crore has been approved for various horticulture development projects across the state, supporting the expansion of the horticulture sector.
Gorakhpur to Get Tissue Culture Laboratory for Sugarcane:
One of the key projects under the approved package is the establishment of a tissue culture laboratory in Gorakhpur for producing breeder seed material of new sugarcane varieties. The project has been sanctioned ₹1.82 crore. The laboratory is expected to strengthen the availability and production capacity of quality planting material for improved sugarcane varieties.

The government has also approved ₹54.55 crore for developing warehouses and storage infrastructure at 14 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). These facilities will have a combined storage capacity of approximately 25,000 metric tonnes, potentially strengthening local-level storage infrastructure for agricultural produce.
Agricultural Universities to Receive Funding for Research and Infrastructure:
To strengthen agricultural education and research infrastructure, ₹13.80 crore has been approved for agricultural universities in Banda, Ayodhya and Meerut, along with the veterinary university in Mathura.
